The Smoke Shed

The Smoke Shed is based in rural Pukekawa where New Zealand made ingredients and traditional preserving methods come together as artisanal barbecuing flavours. A love of barbecuing and sharing big taste with family and friends has been the driving force behind the creation of The Smoke Shed. Owners Jayde and Andrew Lane have taken this driving force and created an opportunity to share their most loved flavours with the goal to inspire backyard barbecuers and well-meaning kitchen gurus to ‘Ignite the Flavor and Savour the Moment’.

Born in Pukekohe and raised throughout Franklin, Jayde has always had a passion for good tasting food since she was child, “I spent a lot of time copying recipes from library cookbooks and baking up a storm from a young age. When I met my husband it was quickly realized we shared this passion but our bank accounts didn’t so we experimented a lot with herbs, spices and sauces to make the most basic dishes taste incredible.”

Bunney’s Worcester Sauce is the Smoke Shed hero. It is a unique recipe passed down from Jayde’s Great grandfather who brought the recipe with him from Pontypridd, Wales. Traditionally only passed down to one son of the family, Jayde is the first daughter to have the recipe handed down to and it is now incorporated into most sauces offered by The Smoke Shed supporting the unique taste of each bottle. The sauce is still created using the old ways of preserving with each batch being produced in stoneware jars guaranteeing authentic, traditional flavour.
